‘Joining the Dots’: A special series by Acuity Law
GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law (GCCIL) organized a two-part series, which covered the key characteristics of the company, tracing its transformative philosophy which resulted in the modern-day norms regulating the company and influencing the social behaviour of a purely profit-making institution.
The following topics were covered:
- The fundamentals of the company with the intricate realm of ‘M&A’ or ‘PE/VC’ transactions.
- The complexities of investment, valuation, due diligence, and regulatory compliance.
- How a combination of ideas, structure and finance gives birth to innovate an opportunity to grow and flourish?
The sessions were conducted by Mr. Souvik Ganguly (Founder and Managing Partner of Acuity Law, and Mr. Akhil Ramesh, Senior Associate, Acuity Law on 22nd – 23rd September 2023.
GCCIL IBBI Online Certificate Course on 'Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law - Special Reference to Corporate Entities'
GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law (GCCIL) in collaboration with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) conducted an online certificate course on 'Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law - Special Reference to Corporate Entities' from 3rd February 2023 to 8th April 2023. The Course was inaugurated by Dr. M. S. Sahoo, Founding Chairperson, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, as the Chief Guest and the keynote speaker. Dr. M. S. Sahoo delivered the keynote address on the topic: ‘IBC – A Code for Economic Liberation?’, and, Mr. Amit Pradhan, Executive Director, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, who was the Guest of Honour and delivered the Inaugural speech.
The course was conducted over a period of two and a half months with an enrolment from students as well as professionals.
The sessions were delivered by eminent professors, and industry experts, amongst other members of the law fraternity.
Celebration of ASIA PACIFIC DAY
In order to celebrate the ASIA PACIFIC DAY 2022, the GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law (GCCIL) organized a special session on the theme '2022 UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day RCAP@10: The Next 10 Years of Legal Harmonization in the Region'.

Quiz Competition
GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law (GCCIL) completed its glorious journey of ten years in the year 2022. To honour the occasion a quiz competition was conducted wherein the students of all the years participated. During the launch of Quiz, the logo of GCCIL was unveiled by Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar, Director, Gujarat National Law University.
The winners of the Quiz competition were:

Expert Talk on “CORPORATE DEBTOR UNDER THE SARFAESI & RDDBFI ACT: THE ROLE OF THE DEBT RECOVERY TRIBUNAL IN INDIA”
The Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law has organized the Expert Talk on “CORPORATE DEBTOR UNDER THE SARFAESI & RDDBFI ACT: THE ROLE OF THE DEBT RECOVERY TRIBUNAL IN INDIA” on September 18th, 2021.
The Welcome Speech was given by the Head of Centre, Prof. (Dr.) Mamata Biswal and the Introductory Remark delivered by Prof Dr. S. Shantakumar, Director, Gujarat National Law University.
The distinguished speaker of the Expert Talk were Shri. Anil Kumar Chaturvedi, Presiding Officer, DRT, Kolkata. He has given a very vivid explanation of RDDBFI Act, 1993 & SARFAESI Act, 2002. He further elaborated about the relevance of the act, Historical Background, Objects and Purposes of the Act along with the help of latest case laws. The session was very insightful and will help the participants to develop an understanding of the RDDBFI Act 1993 and SARFAESI Act, 2002.
The vote of thanks was given by Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, Assistant Professor of Law, Gujarat National Law University to the distinguished speaker and participants of the Expert Talk.
International Conference on Insolvency Law and CISG@40 (18th December 2020)
GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law (GCCIL) in collaboration with United Nations UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and Pacific (UNCITRAL RCAP), Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and UNCITRAL National Coordination Committee India (UNCCI) organized an International Conference on Insolvency Law and CISG@40 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. M S Sahoo, Chairperson, IBBI along with other dignitaries which included Ms. Athita Komindr, Head UNCITRAL RCAP, Mr. Luca G. Castellani, Legal officer, Secretariat of UNCITRAL, Mr. K R Saji Kumar, Executive Director, IBBI, Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar, Director, GNLU and Prof. (Dr.) Mamata Biswal, Professor of Law and Dean, Faculty and Academic Affairs and Head of Centre, GCCIL.

National Colloquium on Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process: Understanding Emerging Issues and Challenges, jointly organized by Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India and GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law (19th September 2020)
In her proceedings on 19th September 2020, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman pointed out that in the current IBC regime, it is necessary to save a business than recovery of stressed assets. Looking at the newly passed Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill, 2020 has been passed in Rajya Sabha. In the month of June 2020, an ordinance promulgated stating that insolvency proceedings will not be initiated for at least six months from March 25th. Keeping the newly arising issues in mind GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law has organized National Colloquium on Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process: Understanding Emerging Issues and Challenges on 19th September 2020 coincidental to the date when the new amendment has been passed by Rajya Sabha on the same subject. The Colloquium has seen a participation of 31 papers from academicians, professionals and students around the country, the deliberations of which took place through 04 parallel sessions.
