Bio
Tarun is an Assistant Professor (Research) and Member, Centre for Sports and Entertainment Law at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar, where he specializes in sports law. His academic and research interests include Information Technology Law and Constitutional Law. With nearly a decade of academic and research experience, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the discourse around sports governance, integrity issues in sports and athlete rights.
He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Law and Practice from De Montfort University (UK), an LL.M. in Constitutional and Administrative Law from GNLU and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His academic work has been complemented by multiple certifications from global institutions, including the International Olympic Committee and Duke University, reinforcing his expertise in sports integrity, governance, and athlete welfare.
At GNLU, Tarun has spearheaded several funded research projects, including studies on gaming regulation, athlete legal education, and sports governance. His consultancy contributions include serving on the drafting committee of the Gujarat Sports Development Code and advising on World Bank funded project. He is also the Co-Founder of Doctrina Ludus, a pioneering initiative advancing sports law education, research and industry engagement.
Tarun has widely published, with research featured in leading SCOPUS journals such as the International Sports Law Journal. He has also contributed to books with international publishers like Routledge. Tarun has co-authored "Ensuring Integrity: Lessons from Judiciary" published by Thomson Reuters and regularly writes opinion pieces for The Economic Times, LawInSport and The Leaflet.
A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, Tarun has delivered lectures across universities in India and Asia. Beyond academia, he actively supports grassroots sports development, particularly women’s volleyball, reflecting his commitment to fostering inclusivity and growth in sports. He has been an Inter-University Football player and has represented his universities in various tournaments. She has participated/presented papers/ invited as a resource person in various national, international conferences, seminars, workshops and capacity building programmes.
